Chinese Social Security, and Embarrassment

Posted by wtdevflnt on April 14, 2010

In China they don’t really have social security, that is why all of the young ones are tying to leave (among other issues such as an oppressive governmental regime, and lack of freedom.) But this is a pretty sad, in China the average they give to the elderly runs from around U$1.5 to about U$15 per month!

Yes that is correct only 15U$ per month to china’s elderly. And remember these people who are over 80, didn’t live in a time of 401k etc. they were born in the 30′s so they supported Mao and his practices and now have nothing. All of those years toiling for communist companies and the current communist regime rewards them with enough cash to buy 2 pints of milk per month.

” Residents older than 80 will get a unified old age allowance across China, a move indicating the government aims to end different allowance policies toward the elderly in different regions, the China Economic Weekly reported Tuesday.

“Besides Beijing, Shanghai and Tianjin, only Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region gives allowances to the elderly beyond 80 on a monthly basis,” the Weekly said, citing Wang Zhenyao, department director of social welfare and promotion of charities under the Ministry of Civil Affairs.

Provinces including Jiangsu and Zhejiang don’t have a unified allowance policy. Some counties give the elderly 80 yuan ($11.8) a month, while others give 100 yuan a month. Some capital cities give only 10 yuan a month to the elderly beyond 80 years old.”
