Americans Dumping Chinese Stocks

Posted by wtdevflnt on October 3, 2011

The piece below states that Americans are dumping all Chinese stocks and not only those mired in the controversies earlier this year. As we become increasingly aware of the poor nature of Chinese accounting and themoral vaccum covering this place, we are collectively cya’ing and getting rid of their stocks.
from here:
“BEIJING—Investors dumped the stocks of some of China’s biggest Internet companies, as scandals with some smaller Chinese firms has shaken Wall Street’s confidence in the country’s businesses.

The Death of the American “McDream”

Posted by wtdevflnt on September 24, 2011

Even if we have jobs, they don’t seem to be paying much, but don’t worry, China is doing fine.
post from here:
“In what can only be described as cruel and inhuman punishment the news reported that 20% of all Americans only make 10.65 per hour or less. For a family of four this is poverty level wages.

On a positive note, it was reported that the number of Chinese billionaires is second only to that of the US and some would contend that they may have more. Obviously the last statement was as sarcastic as it can be. What I truly fail to understand is how the outsourcing of US jobs and technology to China benefits the USA.
As a matter of fact, as we have floundered over the past ten years or just about the time China entered the WTO, they have prospered. To that end, they have gone from 0 billionaires starting in 200 to 174 at least, as of the beginning of this year. Does anyone see the problem here?

Truth of Chinese Manufacturing Quality in Pictures

Posted by wtdevflnt on September 15, 2011

Welding is a process of joining metals by introducing a ‘filler metal’. This filler is electrically charged becomes molten and bonds the two pieces one wishes to join. Welding is an integral part of most manufacturing process and if you look at any building and or product containing metal, you will probably find welds. (riveting or bolting is also an option)
Welders in the USA are pretty well trained for much is riding on their ability. Build practically anything with metal and you need capable welders-cars trains, bridges, bikes, motorcycles, planes, buses, boats, machinery, etc.
In order to perform their jobs safely, welders typically need these things. (photo from Miller welding gear)

Not only does the welder need to protect himself as a tremendous amount of current is flowing through the welding rig, but he also needs to shield his eyes and skin from molten metal that sparks from the welds he is making. In addition, it is imperative to see the ‘bead’ or the line of molten metal that he is drawing to ensure a quality weld.

in the USA we have various agencies in charge of testing, qualifying and certifying welders and they typically do a pretty good job.

These, however, are welders in China

Yes this man who seems to be snoozing rather than joining two hunks of metal upon which the lives of many will depend, but then again this is China.

Aside from their weld positions, other concerns come to mind

Do they look safe? Can we assume that a man who is

hanging on for dear life has a sufficient level of concentration to make  a weld with enough structural integrity upon which we  may trust our lives?

What will his work product be like?

And even if we ignore the big picture, how about his equipment. What does a professional Chinese welder don before undertaking his tasks? lets see, Chinese are nice so I will befriend him and learn about his secrets.

Here he comes. His protective shield and goggles seem odd, but maybe I am being ethnocentric or a snob.

Here he comes, a real Chinese professional ….And now lets meet my new friend

Hmm that is odd, he does not look much like a  professional welder. So I decided to go investigate and found out that

………………………….

his weld ‘hood’ was a piece of cardboard and his ‘goggles’ were nothing more than sunglasses. But rest assured because the boss man was on the scene to ensure a quality product

This photo series if nothing else should serve to warn people about the realities of China. The people are great but communism, greed and corruption have left their work product to be a thing of scorn. While it is politically correct to not call them ‘reds’ chicoms and the like, it should not be politically correct to ignore obvious signs of malfeasance. This photo spread shows the reality of China and should not be ignored.

The Chinese made the statue of Martin Luther King, they have manufactured a bridge for us in San francisco and many other things and we, like idiotic sheep continue to trust big business both in China and the states as they proclaim the Chinese miracle.

Who could not build hundreds of thousands of apartments with this of quality and workmanship. The problem is that business does not want us to know about this stuff for if we did we’d shit in our collective pants and demand change. So its much easier to disqualify such pics as an outlier. My response to that would be, this is China.

Believe what you will, but next time someone tells you about the China miracle and quality please feel free to send them this link or download the pics and send them around. The more we know the better off we are. Maybe these photos show why a typical Chinese building lasts 30 years while ours last 90.

Just remember both of these guys are paid what they are worth. The question is to whom shall you give your money?

  who do you trust ?

Safety With Chinese Characteristics? Funny Photo

Posted by wtdevflnt on September 14, 2011

This photo comes from www.weldreality.com The author of the site is a specialist in welding and critiqued Chinese welding practices, especially regarding the building of the Birds Nest among other things. The site is an excellent reference but also shows how far China must come. Or maybe they don’t need to, after all, we Americans would rather give them our cash instead of our own- we are like China- its all about the cash…

Webcast on China’s Economic Woes

Posted by wtdevflnt on September 11, 2011

Good webcast on China- from Brewskie. thanks Brew!

comment here from Brewskie
Back again… :P Dude, discovered that Victor Shih – a professor of political science at Northwestern University, who specializes in China – is giving a 2-hour speech tomorrow on Chinese government debt that’s being webcasted here:

http://webapp.mcis.utoronto.ca/EventDetails.aspx?eventId=10881

Of course I don’t have 2 hours to putz around with tomorrow; I doubt you do, but it appears promising, and it may be worth dropping in for time-allotted bits, during or after.

Here’s a description:

“In this paper, I estimate the size of the Chinese government’s contingent liabilities in the corporate and financial sectors and explore the monetary and welfare implications of these liabilities. Looking broadly at all the liabilities in the formal financial system, debt owed by state-owned entities total over 60 trillion RMB as of late 2010. Because the government turns out to be the greatest ultimate debtor for much of this enormous pool of debt, the government has incentive to structure monetary policy so as to minimize the impact of this large pool of liabilities on the government’s formal balance sheets. In the process, however, households in China end up paying a large tax associated with excess liquidity in the system and ultimately inflation. This effect goes against China’s long-term goal to have domestic consumption as the main engine of growth.”

It also says his “current research concerns Chinese banking policies, exchange rates, elite political dynamics and local government debt in China.”

Where Chinese Ever Moral?

Posted by wtdevflnt on September 10, 2011

This book was written over 150 years ago and it would appear that not much has changed…. quote from here The Civilization of China (Herbert Allen Giles)

“… observers of the globe-trotter type, who have had their pockets picked by professional thieves in Hong-Kong, and even resident observers who have not much cultivated their powers of observation and comparison, will assert that honesty is a virtue denied to the Chinese;”

Another Day Another High Speed Rail Problem in China-

Posted by wtdevflnt on August 4, 2011

On Monday there were more mishaps for China’s “high speed when they are working and not when they suffer from malfunctions and/or crashes”. On two separate lines they had system problems resulting in backups, delays and panicking passengers.
The line now called the ‘widow maker’, the one that runs through Wenzhou, stalled and passengers panicked, probably thrust themselves from window etc. And the Beijing to Shanghai line also had problems. (article here)
In reality is anyone shocked? This is China and things here should not move faster than the slowest land mammal, to ensure their safety. My question is how stupid are those dumbasses from California who recently visited China to look at the rail system. yeah, there was a big time fk off of a meeting all paid for by uncle chicom to bring some governmental officials from Cali to marvel at the high speed rail system here. My question is, when those officials come to China do they opt for just the hand job, or do they go for the full monty? (story here)china s shitty rail system
