Help- Blocked Site, Cannot Read

Posted by w_thames_the_d on January 4, 2010

Can anyone e give me a hand here (I am still on an anger rant over the Beijing taxis.) Anyway… I am doing research for my PhD and came across a cool site by a guy named Rao Yi. Apparently this person is trying to do the right thing by exposing fraud in Chinese academia. Before we make villains of them (in Chinese Academia) we should understand the problem is one of oversight. The interesting point that this person has made is that due to materialism in moder China, people are undertaking research for ll the wrong reasons and plagiarism and data falsification is common place. This has me worried, although I have seen some sketchy data in my research thus far.

The site I wish to view is fangzhouzi-xys.blogspot.com/2009_05_01_archive.html,

Can anyone read this ?

The Bubble has Burst- Shitty Beijing Taxi’s

Posted by w_thames_the_d on January 4, 2010

Oh how the mighty have fallen. I cannot express the depth of my sorrow, yes, the might Beijing cabbies have now officially been placed on my shit list!
It has been snowing like crazy here, typically this is merely an inconvenience, but apparently in Beijing it means more. Anyone who reads this blog knows that I previously had nothing but utter respect for Beijing cabbies, but alas that has changed. Those devious cabbies have taken to disobeying every cab driver rule, gouging us when we need them most. Last night my friends and I waited over 40 minutes in sub zero weather with cabbies whizzing by, driving illegally, overcharging the commoner and all this in the capital of China…you know shit like this would never happen in Washington, well… then again…
Hmm Washington DC, one of the most crime and drug infested placed in the USA..
Hmm maybe I will just stop bitching, its only a matter of a few bucks and what the hell, Beijing still is a pretty cool place to live.
