Google- Beating a Dead Horse

Posted by w_thames_the_d on January 24, 2010

Ok, so check out the screen shot, here you can see that in Google it states that for the T.ian.anman. protests of ’89- the history has been deleted inside mainland China. So maybe the saga continues. (see screen shot).

Update, the screen shot didnt come through. But in English it says that the history has been deleted. The more I think of this the more scary it is. Just imagine if the PRC govt hides things like this-something of this magnitude and of such common knowledge, what else are they hiding?

Google, not Google- WTF Censors

Posted by w_thames_the_d on January 24, 2010

I was just messing around on google.com.cn and playing with the words Tian an.man 1989 and all- cuz that is just the kind of guy I am and no lie, guess what happened…

It was the most bizarre thing. As stated, I first did it in Egnlsish, checked out the pics no problem at all. Then I decided to do it on the Chinese google in Egnlish and Chinese ( I heard Google was not censoring any more). So I pull it up and cant access any images, then I try it again. The wiki entrance comes up and I click it, get about part way down and the page just disappears. The screen shows that the site cannot be accessed, but yet i was just reading it seconds ago. Then I tried again and nada- that is nothing for you non-Spanish speakers. I am blogging via email, but at times, this place is really bizarre…

They Must be Controlled-

Posted by w_thames_the_d on January 24, 2010

Good article on the continuing Google row- but a couple of points:
1-isnt the primary issue that they (the government) hacked into Google servers and stole email addresses, passwords- plain scary
2-the rest is just China, their country their rules to wit see below, I guess this is what the government thinks of its people

"Online pornography, hacking, fraud and ‘rumours’ were menaces to Chinese society, Wang said, adding that the government and Internet media both have a responsibility to ‘guide’ opinion."

WTF?? Responsibility to guide opinion…
