Chinese Woman Arrested for Rumor Mongering

Posted by w_thames_the_d on April 27, 2010

China sure keeps a tight reign on them…

“The seismological bureau of Nanjing in Jiangsu province on Monday refuted rumors that a 7- to 8-magnitude earthquake is expected to hit the city on June 13, and urged residents not to believe it and live a normal life, the Yangtze Evening Post reported Tuesday.

According to the rumor, the quake forecast was made by the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration and the United States National Seismographic Network, with the epicenter being right in Nanjing.

A 25-year-old woman, who spread the rumor after reading it on a friend’s QQ zone, a social networking site, was arrested for creating public disturbance. The rumor also said more than 76 percent of hot springs in the Jiangning district of Nanjing saw their temperature go up and the water turn black, and the underground noise level increased 55 decibel from previous years, all signs that a big quake was coming.

Chinese Culture, Women For Sale, You Only Need a Home

Posted by w_thames_the_d on April 27, 2010

This should be called “Love China Style”. What romantic and deep people these Chinese. The article below talks about the fact that in one of China’s largest cities, the women will only marry a man who owns a home. That gets a bigWTF? What about love, respect etc…

China has a really odd perspective on morals and love…

xinhuanet

“A recent survey showed that owning a house is the most important thing in finding a partner in Guangzhou: 67 percent of the city’s single women said they would only marry a man who has the capability of buying a house or already has one, the Information Times reported Tuesday.

The survey, conducted by a matchmaking agency in Guangzhou among 15,000 respondents who were not married, found 54 percent of Guangzhou’s single people would demand a house for marriage.

Women have fallen biggest victim to the current soaring housing prices, as they are more concerned about having a house to form a family. But for the male respondents, more than 90 percent said they wouldn’t care if their potential life partner has a house or not, and only 50 percent said they had a house, according to the survey.”

China’s Xingjiang Granny Living in Washington DC

Posted by w_thames_the_d on April 27, 2010

In China they hate us for this. Some lady from the troubled xingiang region in China now lives in DC and according to the Chinese, runs her mob from there. She stirs up a ton of crap, according to them.

excerpt from the guardian.co.uk

“The Chinese government says the mastermind behind the violent clashes between Muslim Uighurs and ethnic Han Chinese in China‘s Xinjiang region is a diminutive grandmother with long, salt-and-pepper braids living in exile in a suburb of the US capital.

Once one of the richest women in Xinjiang and held up as an exemplar of China’s purported multi-ethnic harmony, Rebiya Kadeer now heads two prominent Uighur exile groups, speaking out against Beijing’s oppression of the Turkic-speaking minority. Beijing has accused Kadeer of organising the protests that have left at least 156 dead and more than 1,000 injured.

“Their accusations are completely false,” Kadeer told journalists at news conference in Washington DC late on Monday. “I did not organise the protests or call on the Uighurs to demonstrate.”

Kadeer’s persecution by the Chinese and her stature as a public face of the Uighur people have earned her comparisons to the Dalai Lama, the exiled Tibetan spiritual leader.

Guangdong Buses Unsafe- Unsafe in China? Really????

Posted by w_thames_the_d on April 27, 2010

This is a real shocker…

GUANGDONG

Many school buses unsafe

Nearly one-third of school buses in Shenzhen, Guangdong province, suffer from safety lapses, an investigation by local traffic police has shown.

A total of 1,060 out of more than 3,540 school buses that had been tested failed to reach safety standards, the Guangzhou Daily reported on Monday. The problems include drivers using fake licenses, poor conditions and overloading. Substandard school buses must be rechecked within a week and their drivers will be punished if they are found to be negligent, local authorities said.”

China Fighting Piracy- Right…

Posted by w_thames_the_d on April 27, 2010

China likes to show how they obey laws and how they are now respecting world copyrights etc. Anyone who has been here simply laughs, or even take a stroll over to ecplaza and type viagra

example or type fake rolex example

and you get a shit load of Chinese companies willing to help you break the law. And while China states they are trying their best to fight piracy, how is it that these people advertise and sell product with impunity?

China has destroyed over 36 million copies of pirated and illegal publications in 31 provinces in an effort to protect intellectual property, a media report said Monday.

China conducted a nationwide campaign on the occasion of World Intellectual Property Day Monday to destroy pirated and illegal publications in order to increase public awareness of intellectual property protection, China Daily reported.

A total of 15 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities each destroyed more than one million copies of pirated and illegal publications in this year’s activity. China obtained 8.48 million illegal publications and handled 1,894 intellectual property infringement cases in 2010.
