India Rejects Chinese Little Emperor for School- Too Dependent and Weak

Posted by w_thames_the_d on May 26, 2010

This is hilarious,

“Indian public universities rejected the application of a young Chinese student on the grounds that they thought Chinese post-90s students were too dependent on their families, which may bring too much trouble to the school, the Jiangnan Times reported Wednesday. The term “China one” refers to the only child in Chinese families who were born in the 1980s and 1990s.

A recent case involved a Chinese mother trying to hire a maid for her child while studying in India. The Indian university that the child applied to was not happy with this request, saying one reason that they didn’t want Chinese international students was their inability to live on their own. One famous Indian university clearly stated, “‘China one’ are not welcome, and we don’t want trouble!” the report says.”

Chinese Grads Will Work For Free

Posted by w_thames_the_d on May 26, 2010

BEIJING – About 18 percent of college graduates in the country said they will accept a job without pay for up to six months, a survey released by the Beijing Youth Stress Management Service Center on Sunday showed.

“College graduates are more realistic toward employment this year,” Xiong Hanzhong, the center director, told China Daily on Monday.

“Only 1.3 percent of them made the same decision last year and the change indicates that college graduates are able to cope with pressure better,” he said.

The 20-day online and telephone survey polled 4,903 college graduates nationwide from April this year.

“Based on our research, people who will accept jobs without pay display less pressure in their temperament, physical condition and behavior,” Xiong said.

China Guaranteeing Employment

Posted by w_thames_the_d on May 26, 2010

BEIJING – China’s education authorities warned Wednesday that they will enforce contracts to ensure teaching college graduates work in rural schools in exchange for free tuition.

The first batch of state-funded normal college students are due to graduate next year and the Ministry of Education is expecting provincial authorities to employ them.

Song Yonggang, vice director of the ministry’s Department of Teacher Education, told a press conference that provincial governments must see to it that such students are employed, quoting a government circular.

“If a province fails to do so, the ministry will cut its quota of college enrollment by the ministry affiliated normal universities,” said Song.
