Understanding China, One Blog at a Time

An American in China

Discovery in China

Posted by w_thames_the_d on June 14, 2010

Interesting finding here. I saw that it is said that Afghanistan has a veritable treasure trove of natural resources under her soil. It was reported that the US discovered these resources. Some might say that the US is doing this as a veil to legitimize their unearthing the poppy fields over there and even the leaders of the Taliban.

To me it interesting from a different perspective. I reside in China now but am American. I am constantly amazed at how little this place currently does for mankind. All of the great modern discoveries, inventions, things that help mankind, do not come from China. It would appear that they have historically been, and still are, focusing mostly on themselves and not really forwarding the betterment of mankind. I hope that this will change.

  1. Don’t worry about Chinese not making the contribution. As soon as someone else made the discovery, they will claim it as their own. And if not, they will claim whoever has made the discovery of invention was doing it for self serving ulterior motives. They are focusing the world for sure, to look for thing they can claim.

Hey, good comment. Also, I have checked your blog. Very good job in frankly discussing the issues. I think you have a good sense of the reality in China as well as abroad, it was good reading.
