Welcome to Chinese Hotels, Showering Not Allowed

Posted by w_thames_the_d on June 24, 2010

China is great, albeit a little less developed than they would like to admit. Take for instance, my little sojourn to Guangzho. I arrived at my hotel, the luxurious Holiday Inn, and much to my surprise, I have no running water. Now, this ordinarily may only be a slight inconvenience, except that I am in a hurry and have to sign a deal in about 50 minutes. I, in my haste decided to work out this morning and thus am now sweating like Wilbur the pig, and not only my room, but no room has any water.

So, dripping with sweat, I give the receptionist a jingle and am cheerfully informed that there will be no water for our hotel in the foreseeable future today. Hmmm, so I wonder if that means that Chinese do not bathe every day , or do not see the need to provide us that luxury if we have that habit. My situation is a precarious one, I have the razor stubble of Foster Brooks at the moment, my hair has a gulf oil sheen, and here I sit blogging, while the business deal looms in the distance.

I guess one of the moral’s of the story is that China is not advanced, or as advanced as they may wish to project, and I should have realized that and stop bitching, or maybe just get out….

ps. The place is the Holiday Inn City Centre Guangzho, I highly recommend avoiding it.

Mental Health in China- Keep them Locked UP

I guess this is how China deals with the mentally ill. The communist party has all of that money, but do not seem want to help the less fortunate.

Man hospitalized after two years’ being chained
Wang Wei, a psychiatric patient, is confined by iron chains in a room in his hometown of Huangliang village, in Xi’an, Northwest China’s Shaanxi province, June 23, 2010. Wang was chained up by his parents for fear he would injure children after his illness broke out two years ago. Wang got married in June 2005 but became psychologically disordered, beating his parents and wife, one month after the marriage. The newly-wedded wife’s complaint about his prostate disease made the introverted Wang even less talkative, manic and violent. [Photo/Asianewsphoto]

The victims were girls aged 15 to 17, the statement said.

Huang Qunzhou, 42, a local businessman was also detained for patronizing underage prostitutes. Shuiyifang Bathhouse and Yuexin Hotel had been closed down in the investigation. The police are searching for four other suspects, it said.

East Timor Calls Chinese Warships “Gucci Knockoffs” Then Buys them

Posted by wtdevflnt on June 23, 2010

Well this story has been causing quite a buzz in the netshpere here in China. Many posters are commenting on how foolish it is for China to brag about a country using their horrible weapons, or at least accusing them of being “knock offs” of legitimate western weapons.

The chicoms have since shut down the posting area for that article. No one can say a thing about it. That is the scary thing in China, the government has total and absolute control and will do anything so they do not lose face or appear stupid. My question is why they run the article to begin with.

I should be careful, the chicoms are probably plotting my eviction as we speak.
