Rock Star Morrissey Calls The Chinese a ‘Subspecies’
Posted by w_thames_the_d on September 17, 2010
I guess he made the comment due to China’s crappy treatment of animals. Hell, they don’t discriminate, they treat all living things like dirt…. Oh yeah, dog is back on the menu in Beijing, and has never left in Shanghai. I just went back to Shanghai and a colleagues tried to coax me to a local restaurant that he assured me had splendid dishes, including dog. |

How Much Money Do You Need to Live in China
Posted by w_thames_the_d on September 17, 2010
For Beijing I would say that this is typical
Food – eat out each day 100 RMB 3000 RMB total If you live well, it will cost about 9500RMB or U$1350 per month to live in Beijing (assuming you pay 4500-5000 for rent). The chart below is abou thalf of that, I don’t know if they include rent, but I have. The above assumes that you live pretty well…ie you live like a foreigner and not a local. (caveat, rent equals about half of that monthly expenditure so reduce it or eliminate it and you can live here for about 600 U$ per month- many companies offer rent free place. ) The following is what the Chinese say is needed to live well here on a city-wide basis. .

Chinese meetings whats the point?
Posted by w_thames_the_d on September 17, 2010
Being in ‘high level’ meetings in China is quite pointless, in these meetings there is a lots of discussion on words and how to use them but they don’t seem to grasp the big picture and what the goal is. They will argue whether a certain metal for instance is actually a hard or soft metal, and the correct way to define it, while there is no focus on the fact that this metal is no longer being used or is actually the cause of many lost profits. This fact that they are unable to focus on the big picture or goal may be due to the fact that the peons and in China this means everyone except the CEOcannot make decisions anyway, so in meetings they basically snipe at one another over meaningless details.. kind of like working for the US government. |

The Chinese hope so. The Chinadaily is all over the fact that the Chinese Basketball Association is looking at hiring this guy to follow Stephon Marbury to their ranks. Good riddance to him… |
