Chinese Ladies Pole Dance on The Subways…

Posted by w_thames_the_d on September 17, 2010

This is an odd phenomenon. They have women who will board the subways and then begin to pole dance. I dont know if the ladies are a little off in the head, or are merely attracting or trying to attract customers, but here are some photos.

Explosive Dog in China-wtf

Posted by w_thames_the_d on September 17, 2010

The Chinese are pretty odd, they study English, but do not seem to get it right, but instead of asking foreigners to help they just do it themselves. The result is often some funny or odd things they have written in English. This is an example…

Funny Chinese Sign- Dont Stand on the Toilet to Shit

Posted by w_thames_the_d on September 17, 2010

A lot of Chinese are still pretty ignorant about fancy things like flush toilets, they actually
squat on the seat, just as they squat over the holes that constitute typical Chinese
toilets (China uses ‘squat pots” which are holes in the floor above which they squat to defecate and urinate). I guess ‘stampede’ in Chinese must mean dont stand to shit.

Obama Selling Knock off Chinese” Blockberry” – WTF

Posted by w_thames_the_d on September 17, 2010

Chinese are pretty creative, especially when it comes to ‘using’ the creations of others. This company is from China and makes the “BlockBerry” and is using Barry O to be its spokesperson. (an interesting aside is that the name of the company is HAFF-COMM . The characters for this company include the name Harvard in Chinese…

Rock Star Morrissey Calls The Chinese a ‘Subspecies’

Posted by w_thames_the_d on September 17, 2010

I guess he made the comment due to China’s crappy treatment of animals. Hell, they don’t discriminate, they treat all living things like dirt…. Oh yeah, dog is back on the menu in Beijing, and has never left in Shanghai. I just went back to Shanghai and a colleagues tried to coax me to a local restaurant that he assured me had splendid dishes, including dog.

China and Controlling the Media

Posted by w_thames_the_d on September 17, 2010

I went on business and was not able to access my usual sources or fountains of information here in China and it astounded me just how much the chicoms control the media. Being separated from reality as it were , i was forced to choke down what the typical Chinaman is spoon fed vz the communist media monster. Upon returning to my normal life, it hit me at just how seclude from reality or the world the typical Chinaman is. They have not idea about what is going on in neighboring countries, innovation, or anything positive, I should say. They will be provided , however with an abundance of the bad. Oil spill in another country Chinese hear about it, plane crash, you got it, terrorist attack, front page. But new innovation, increase in the Dow, Joe Chinese will never be the wiser. It actually makes me feel sorry for the Chinese.

How Much Money Do You Need to Live in China

Posted by w_thames_the_d on September 17, 2010

For Beijing I would say that this is typical

Food – eat out each day 100 RMB 3000 RMB total
electricity 50 RMB
Rent 2000-20,000 RMB- I chose 4500 for my calculations
Insurance 100 RMB
Entertainment 1500 RMB
misc- 400 RMB

If you live well, it will cost about 9500RMB or U$1350 per month to live in Beijing (assuming you pay 4500-5000 for rent). The chart below is abou thalf of that, I don’t know if they include rent, but I have. The above assumes that you live pretty well…ie you live like a foreigner and not a local. (caveat, rent equals about half of that monthly expenditure so reduce it or eliminate it and you can live here for about 600 U$ per month- many companies offer rent free place. )

The following is what the Chinese say is needed to live well here on a city-wide basis.

.

City Average Monthly Income for Quality Living (RMB) City Average Monthly Income for Quality Living (RMB)
Shanghai 5350 Lanzhou 1500
Guangzhou 4750 Zhengzhou 2880
Shenzhen 5280 Xi’ning 1000
Hangzhou 4980 Qinhuang Island 2550
Nanjing 3780 Shijiazhuang 2300
Wuxi 3200 Harbin 1700
Suzhou 4300 Changchun 1500
Jinan 3120 Shenyang 2100
Taiyuan 1980 Hefei 1680
Yinchuan 1100 Changzhou 3380
Kunming 2800 Wenzhou 5020
Guiyang 1600 Dalian 5000
Nanchang 1200 Hohhot 1700
Fuzhou 3380 Urumqi 2100
Xiamen 4100 Lhasa 900
Qingdao 4000 Xi’an 2080
Tianjin 4000 Nanning 1300
Chengdu 1900 Haikou 2600
Chongqing 2250 Sanya 2360
Changsha 2480 Macau 8900
Wuhan 2680 Hong Kong 18500

Chinese meetings whats the point?

Posted by w_thames_the_d on September 17, 2010

Being in ‘high level’ meetings in China is quite pointless, in these meetings there is a lots of discussion on words and how to use them but they don’t seem to grasp the big picture and what the goal is. They will argue whether a certain metal for instance is actually a hard or soft metal, and the correct way to define it, while there is no focus on the fact that this metal is no longer being used or is actually the cause of many lost profits. This fact that they are unable to focus on the big picture or goal may be due to the fact that the peons and in China this means everyone except the CEOcannot make decisions anyway, so in meetings they basically snipe at one another over meaningless details.. kind of like working for the US government.

Posted by w_thames_the_d on September 17, 2010

The Chinese hope so. The Chinadaily is all over the fact that the Chinese Basketball Association is looking at hiring this guy to follow Stephon Marbury to their ranks. Good riddance to him…
