China and Facebook

Posted by w_thames_the_d on September 28, 2010

Hot off the Chinese Press, did you know Facebook founder M. Zuckerberg has a girlfriend who is from America but whose ancestors are Chinese, thus to China she is a “American born Chinese”? Hmmm I didn’t either and really don’t give a shit. Firstly the chicoms block Facebook, secondly I dont know if I would get on Facebook if I could, and thirdly the race of some guy’s girlfriend, is of no consequence to me.
So why am I writing about it?
Because in China its all over the news. All of my friends have been talking about the founder of Facebook, a very rich man has a Chinese girlfriend, I correct them and say “no he has an American girlfriend.” They concede the point but are still excited because his girlfriend has Chinese blood and I guess to them it raises the status of Chinese everywhere if these two tie the knot. (digression- they make a good pair, like Lennon and yoko ono- both extremely homely which actually perpetuates the image that Chinese ladies are pretty fbugly)

My question is why the Chinese press who have at least 1,300,000,000 people to worry about, cares enough to waste ink on some guy whose web ap is disallowed in this country and who is dating a woman who is from the same country as he…
Maybe its just me but this to me seems like a non-issue, maybe I’ve just wasted 7 minutes and 33 seconds writing about it, but when I started it seemed like a noble thing to do..

Comfy in China- Beijing Subway- Get Yer Shoulder the Fk Outta My Face

Posted by w_thames_the_d on September 28, 2010

Yup, here is another pic, its a shot from line one.The lady who is grimacing actually just took an elbow shot from the purple shirt, it made a sickening thud…
This is what it is like to take a subway here. The funny thing is that the subways are always packed but when you first come to China you do not have the proper definition of ‘packed’ yo think of it in western standards as in there are ten people around you, a place is ‘packed’. In China it is not packed unless you see at least this level of throngs of humanity. If you are surrounded, cannot touch a wall, have a bakers dozen of your least known friends breathing down your neck and invading every private space of your body, then in China, it is Not, “packed”…

Man Planned Terrorist Attack on The Chinese Embassy

Posted by w_thames_the_d on September 28, 2010

I have no idea what this is about, could be people with ties to XinJiang, or maybe its just about a bad dish of Kung Pao Chicken… bad but here is the story…
“OSLO – The terrorist suspect, Michael Davud, who was arrested in July with two others, has confessed that he had planned to blow up the Chinese embassy building in Oslo, lawyer Carl Rieber-Mohn told a Norwegian TV reporter on Tuesday. The three suspects — Michael Davud, David Jakobsen and Shawan Saeed Sadek Bujak — are now likely to be charged with having formed an alliance for committing terrorist acts on Norwegian soil.”

China in Black and White

Posted by w_thames_the_d on September 28, 2010

Black and white,,, kind of funny, as in black and white thinking-maybe some people think this is my view of China, in black and white. Damn, did that make sense, am I coherent? I staid up till 3 am playing Madden football and my eyes are swollen and I am dehydrated, late for work, maybe its time to grow up, get focused…. nah, I’ll just blog about China..

Oh yeah, I took this photo on black and white as I thought it looked cool, end of story.

When I was a kid we went to see them and I think one of us, like my sister or me asked them if its true that Dr Max is a drunk and Mombo had anger issues or something, I think Mombo told us to ” fuck off.”. thats no lie…I was like 5 or so
