China’s Lunar Probe or: China, the Moon, Credibility and Outright Deceit

Posted by w_thames_the_d on October 1, 2010

Here is a never before seen photo of just one of the great things China has accomplished, an actual moon walk! Can you imagine that while we in the west revel over the fact that we were actually the first, this comes to light…

Yeah, pretty crappy graphics on the picture and all, but I have been thinking about China and their recent space probe launch and credibility. They remind me of the USSR in the past, they would make wild claims that were usually unsubstantiated, and very seldom true. So, one has to wonder what type of great CGI they will cook up for their space probes, a la the Olympics, or those ‘borrowed moon photos’ that China claimed as their own. So, in order to assist them, I have developed a little thing I like to call the ‘Mao walk’, please feel free to distribute and claim as authentic.

Plant Tours in China

Posted by w_thames_the_d on October 1, 2010

My friend and I did some plant tours in China…
Basically what that meant is that we met some people at a local retail location where this company hawks or sells their goods. Did we ever make it to their plant? No, not this one, they insisted that we eat a large meal and then go to a KTV instead. This actually happened with several suppliers , till we found one who was legitimate.
This may sound odd to most of us, after all, a plant tour should be undertaken at a plant, you know, the place where things are made and if this is true then why did my friend and I waste time with a half-a-dozen companies before one would show us their plant?
Because this is China, the land of smoke and mirrors. All companies here will claim to be manufacturers, just as they will all claim to have deep contacts within the government, but alas so many of them dont. In our particular case, it seems as if 5 of the companies were actually resellers and not manufacturers, they basically lied, and the 6th was a manufacturer but their facility was nothing more than a ramshackle affair with a bunch of coolies milling about and accomplishing little. Its no wonder they didnt want to take us, when we finally saw their facility we were awestruck, it was like going to the some deep south trailer park community…. not the type of place I’d think that has the highest quality standards…
This is China, you live and learn, but you definitely live, as in sensory overload, you see every type of scam, ripoff, fake and actually some honest people as well. My friend and I found some honest providers.. or so we think.

A Little Disappointed with China’s Birthday Party

Posted by w_thames_the_d on October 1, 2010

Today was odd, not odd for a communist country to have a 61st birthday, but odd for the celebration or lack thereof. Actually I was walking around with some friends and they pointed it out to me, they said China almost seemed sad today. Last year for the big 60th anniversary they pulled out all the stops, I was awoken by tanks, planes and the like storming towards Tian.en.man for the show, but today, nada. There was nothing, I didnt venture by Tian.en.man, but heard no fireworks, actually it kind of sucked. China’s birthday is usually kind of cool.

Chinese and Standing in Line

Posted by w_thames_the_d on October 1, 2010

You cannot get the magnitude of the people in this line from this photo but the funny thing is that it is incredible. If you can see a green arrow, that means that the turnstile is for this side and the red is for the other side. The thing is that the Chinese never figure this out, they just pile into whatever line is in front of them, like automatons

On Communism, Blogging, Governments and Such..

Posted by w_thames_the_d on October 1, 2010

My dad read one of my posts from this site and his email reply was simple “You’ll be thrown into a Chinese prison or kicked out by December… food for thought. When I read his reply I smiled, thats just how I roll. But then it hit me, the implications of what he is saying are quite deep.
I really don’t know if anyone has been kicked out of this wonderful stupendous country which I adore and really am just joking when I blog so please don’t imprison me nor kick me out….
But if they have been kicked out, lets hope its for a little more than the harmless name calling that goes on in my site, after all, dont they have bigger fish to fry?
Then I was noticing who else is hitting my site…..Department of Defense, homeland security, the CIA- no shit…. a little creepy, a little eerie…what do they want with my little ‘old site…
So then I thought to myself, I really dislike governments be they communist, monarchies, oligarchies, and even our so -called democracies (dont get me wrong USA- govt, I love America, a true patriot and all). Don’t get me wrong, they are necessary, but like rectal probes and root canals, they are nothing pleasant. I once read that the profile for serial killers and presidents (or politicians) is similar, the idea was that they have to make tough calls about life and death and still go around smiling shaking hands and such, how many of us could do this…
But I digress… the point was that I have these people sniffing around my site, maybe its just common or maybe its all something deeper and more evil, maybe its all a big plot to keep down the voice of reason, maybe my days in freedom are numbered, but being the eternal optimist I am deciding on potential blog names for the eventuality that my next blogs will be written from behind bars in some ‘holding facility’ where all of my human rights will be ripped away and I will don either a yellow vest-china, or orange overalls, the dastardly US…
ideas
-understanding fort Leavenworth penal institution
-understanding waterboarding
-understanding the mind of a guy whose smart ass blog got him thrown in jail
-I think therefor I blog, I blog therefor the chicoms kicked me out
I think that these are prime candidates for my next blog. I guess for the mean time I will have to keep ducking, moving and blogging and just play it by ear….

I hope that someone somewhere is sipping a latte from Starbucks, and smiling as they read this while I creep out my door, look left and right and hurry to the gym just biding my time here.
