| The cachophony of fireworks did not allow me to enjoy my usual 12 hours of off time slumber. Today is the first day of the Chinese New Year so we do not work. Since the wee hours of the morning people have been setting off fireworks making sleep nothing more than a wish. I heard they set of fireworks to scare off the bad luck or bad ghosts. The Chiense word for fireworks is Bien pao- pronounced beeee en pow. Oddly enough a vulgar word for making love is Da pao… |
