View From a Chinese Hospital

Posted by w_thames_the_d on February 17, 2011

Here is a shot from the time I went to the hospital. Those highly trained professionals are playing hop scotch, if i am not mistaken. And those metal objects that you see above the chairs are nothing less than clasps upon which wayward patients are hooked when they get out of hand.

Beijing Issues New Home Ownership Rules

Posted by w_thames_the_d on February 17, 2011

According to the chinadaily, “… non-Beijing residents must have paid their monthly social security contribution or income tax for five consecutive years before they are eligible to buy their first apartment in the city. ”
This is a plan to cool the rising house prices in Beijing. The idea is that all non-Beijingers who have not been here for 5 years cannot buy a home. The sad thing is that this is China and thus all rules are subject to a liberal interpretation, meaning if you have friends in the communist party, this rule will not pertain to you.
