Three Holer- Clean Chinese Squat Pot Toilet

Posted by w_thames_the_d on March 7, 2011

Here is a brand new Chinese ‘multi-person’ toilet. What I find unnerving about this layout is that if you are standing to do your business while your neighbor is squatting, your ‘junk’ is eye high to that person. To me this is a less than appealing prospect.

fyi those three holes in the ground are where the locals do their business.

WTF is a “Community Policing Studio?”- Funny Chinese Translation

Posted by w_thames_the_d on March 7, 2011

This is a good one. The Chinese have set up a “Community Policing Studio”- I guess it sounds better than ‘cop shop where we will kick your ass for no reason other than we dont want you to excercise your “constitutional rights” ‘.

How Chinese Resolve Disputes

Posted by w_thames_the_d on March 7, 2011

I saw this the other day. A woman driving a car ‘ the alleged hitter’ nailed a guy driving a motorbike the alleged hittee. Then after the alleged hitter, nailed the alleged hittee, he ran to the hitter’s car. Soon, the hitter was forking over piles of cash, even her girlfriend helped out. And when the man had emptied their pockets, he moved off.
This is how the locals settle traffic disputes. Maybe it’s because they don’t trust the cops, but usually dont call them, they just settle it on the spot. The victim demands cash and the transgressor gives it up.

China Moves to Ban Depictions of Its History

Posted by w_thames_the_d on March 7, 2011

China is trying to ban movies portraying the cultural revolution ….
excerpt from here:
“A proposal by the president of the Beijing Film Academy to ban the depiction of murder, rape and violence in movies provoked criticism from some filmmakers and members of the public. Zhang Huijun, also a member of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), called for such a legislation during the ongoing annual session in order to curb violent content in movies, the Xinhua News Agency reported.”

Re-blog on Assertive Chinese Held in Mental Wards

Posted by w_thames_the_d on March 7, 2011

Interesting post from this site.

excerpt:
“Here is another article from The New York Times about the treatment Chinese dissidents. It seems that in China, if you do not agree with the government, you could end up living in a mental institution. Here in this country, we have managed to criminalize our mentally ill, but China wants to stigmatize and label their so called “criminals”. Both ways are horrific. As human beings, we should all care about this issue. No one deserves to be locked away at the whim of a government, but no one deserves to be locked away because they have an illness.”

Confused in China

Posted by w_thames_the_d on March 7, 2011

I read the following from chinadaily.com “BEIJING – Beijing firmly opposes Washington’s arms sales to Taiwan, Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi said Monday.”. If Ta.iwan is truly a part of China, as they say here, then why is China upset with this action? Isn’t it merely selling arms to China??
