Chinese Porn Pimp- Late Night DVD Sales

Posted by w_thames_the_d on April 18, 2011

I do not know if this is a Beijing thing or not, but near Pingguo apartments one is constantly beset upon by the ‘porn pimp’. What this is is a haggard looking older woman of indeterminate age, looks 59 so probably is 23, who stalks the ink black Beijing nights hawking her wares- porno DVD’s.

What happens is that as one makes their way home in the Beijing darkness, this old lady steams up on her U$10 bike then storms up to you screeching to a stop, which should be a dead give away that she is up to no good as the common chinese have the temerity of small insects, they fear big things and loud noises and avoid the unknown. In any event the DVD hussie slams on the brakes and comes to a halt. Dividing her head in two, the ill fitting smattering of teeth from the lower half of her head separate themselves form the alien-like chompers she has for uppers and she discreetly whispers, “PSSTTT” and then looks around 007 like as she smirks, “Porno DVD…” and then grins.

My reply when this happened the other day was that although I appreciate her zeal in this commercial endeavor, but I have a girlfriend.

“She will like it.” the lady said while sinking her orange hand into a decades old shopping bag.

“She does not need it, she’s hyper-sexual. My fear is that such an aid will only drive her over the brink,” I wink, “if you know what I mean.”

uncomprehending she said something like, “whatever” and fished out what appeared to be seven DVD’s.. “Seven kuai” she said and shoved them at me.

At this point I’m looking for the candid camera. After all, it is 2011 and due to this wonderful thing called the internet, gawking at female flesh is nothing more than a mouse click away. Could it be true that this wretched soul, like one of the furrycreatures in the ‘land of the lost’ has been so far removed from reality that she has not caught the internet fever?

Shaking my head, I comment that when my girlfriend comes up for air, I have options, non of which are dubbed over chinese porn flicks.

Spitting at the ground she then says, “OK mister. How about a cigarette?”

“don’t smoke.”

“got any food?”

“nope?”

“extra cash?”

As I stuff my hand into my pocket I consider her life. Peddling around the Beijing darkness with a fistful of salacious Videos, in a good day this woman can make what, U$6? Shaking my head I gave her some RMB.

Chinese People Moving

Posted by w_thames_the_d on April 18, 2011

These are migrant workers in China. What that means is that they live in Beijing but do not have Beijing hukou or citizenship. What this means is that they are resented by many and treated like dogs. Oftentimes their benevolent bosses will stiff them or not pay them for several months wages, they are migrants, after all.

Electric Doors IQ and Wrenched Limbs in China

Posted by w_thames_the_d on April 18, 2011

Electric Doors IQ and Wrenched Limbs in China
I don’t know what’s more confusing to me, the average chinaman, or their inability to negotiate the intricacies of things like electric doors, elevators, and escalators. Maybe since they didn’t discover electricity, they still have not cozied up to its usage, but then again they did invent fireworks and look at how that has worked out for them.
Anyway, the other day I was in one of those electric revolving door and some chinese guy got close as it was sweeping around and ready to close. Being chinese, he did the most logical thing, he stuffed his briefcase and hand into the 3 inch space, and the door being electric kept turning. So here is this dumbass Chinese guy with his arm stuck in the door and looking like ‘what happened?”
As i glared at the man, I thought of one of the most un-endearing habits of the locals vz their apparent stupidity when faced with electrical devices. Now before you criticize me and state that I am being crass, rude and generalizing, I will admit that I have seen the occasional local who did not run pell mell into a subway door as it was closing and then bounce off only to lie there arm outstretched out like Willam Dafoe in the movie Platoon, but in my jaded humble opinion, it is the exception not the rule. So back to the story…
So here i am waiting while this guy is tugging at his arm and the door is sweeping closed. The guy behind me got nervous, probably wondered if by some Chinese logic he’d be held liable. As for me, although a sensitive man, my real concern was that the guy learn a lesson and possible spread the word to his peeps. Although it was obvious the door didn’t have enough power to cause harm, I breathed a sigh of relief as I imagined this place with a passel of hobbling armless souls who had forgotten how to play nicely with all things electric.
In the end, the nice man got both his arm and briefcase back, but in my heart of Lilliputian hearts, I doubt he learned anything.
