Funny Chinese Sign- ‘Mind’ or ‘Mend’ the Glass?

Posted by w_thames_the_d on May 2, 2011

The Chinese are tight with a buck. They feel its much better to use chinglish, which is a bastardized form of English, then to pay a foreigner do write things for them. The result is that they often foul up their translations.
As you can see in the photo, it says ‘mend the glass’. The problem is that the glass is in perfect condition. The first two characters on the left are ‘xiao and xing’ or be careful. Thus the people who translated this to English may have done it phonetically as chiense pronounce mind like mend. In any event, my friend showed me the sign and I thought I’d share it with all my cynical friends…
