China Closes Tibet to Foreigners for the Month of July

Posted by w_thames_the_d on June 14, 2011

China is ‘celebrating’ 60 years of peace and harmony and their little beautiful relationship with Tibet and they dont want some barbarians mucking it up for them. So, they have closed all foreign tourist travel to Tibet for the month of July, no shit.
How do you close travel to an entire hunk of your country? Is it just me or is this not one of the most bizarre pieces of news to come from China. I see the point, next month uncle chicom is celebrating his 90th anniversary, that is the party not the country, so they could be nervous about extra-curricular activities but wtf is up with them?

Some Chinese butcher named Gao lived in Jinzhou and sold 0.75U$ worth of pig intestines to a guy named Sun who sat at the guys stall and subsequently ate the intestines then died, due to eating illegally added industrial nitrates usually used in fertilizer, to the meat to improve its color and texture. Vietnam Sends Message to China-

Posted by w_thames_the_d on June 14, 2011

Vietnam is upset with China for her actions in the South China sea but news sources report that many in Vietnam feel that Vietnam’s leaders are not doing enough to discourage China’s presence in the area. In order to overcome this perception of weakness, the Vietnamese government has issued a decree explaining who will be exempt should a ‘military call up ‘ be necessary. (BBC news)
The idea is that Vietnam wishes to show they won’t be pushed around and in all honesty they have been upset with the US in the past for their incursions into the waters as well. At issue right now, however, is the fact that there is much anxiety in the region about China’s military build up and it is must a matter of time till someone gets pushed beyond their limits. China, for her part, maintains that peaceful dialogue must continue…..
