China Fact-income Inequality

Posted by w_thames_the_d on June 25, 2011

In China 1% of the people hold 60% of the wealth, my take.
1-that is a lot of corruption
2-no wonder people are upset
3-no wonder they don’t want to let go of the power, it pays to be a member of China’s communist party

Quote on Chinese Food Safety

Posted by w_thames_the_d on June 25, 2011

Here is a great quoted posted on mylaowai.com. ““Athletes and officials will not be allowed to carry their own food inside the Olympic Village during the Beijing Games, according to established international practice […] Why would foreigners have to carry their own food when they can enjoy the absolutely safe food on offer? […] I believe no one will let go of the chance to savor authentic Chinese food, and I don’t think they (foreign participants) will carry their own food.”
This was posted four or five months before the games. How funny that not only did a milk scandal rock China after the Olympics, of course it was reported beforehand but the chicoms blocked it until they had a chance to hog the spotlight at the expense of their people.

I still find it humorous that this statement about food safety was made at that time and is still untrue some three years later.

Incidentally mylaowai.com is an excellent blog. The author has been busy, but reading his old posts is beyond entertaining.

China and Freedom of the Press

Posted by w_thames_the_d on June 25, 2011

There is a site called the committee to protect journalists here http://www.cpj.org
you can visit the site as you live in a free country, I on the other hand cannot. According to the book China’s Great Leap, up until 2007, China had been the leader of jailing journalists for nine straight years. I cannot tell if they still lead as this site is probably considered an inflammatory site filled with lies and hate speech, ie tells the truth about China.
