China has the deadliest roads, on a per person basis , in the world so when I saw this photo I immediately thought it was just an instance of another Chinese driver doing something stupid. The funny thing is that it was not the driver who had done something stupid but the building management officials.
The driver of the car simply followed the signs to the ‘car park’ or parking lot, and this is what it got her. The building officials admitted that the sign was in the wrong place and that no these stair steps are not part of the parking structure. The management group will compensate the victim for her troubles, however.

Some people in Hong Kong, or so I am told, are having a rough time adapting to the presence of so many mainlanders on their turf. The complaints of the Hong Kong’ers revolve around the fact that they perceive the people from the Chinese mainland as being somewhat dirty, rude but also coming to Hong Kong to give birth. As a matter of fact, the department of statistics in Hong Kong has said that 45% of all babies born in Hong Kong last year were from mainland mothers. What this means is that almost 40,000 of the 90,000 kids born in Hong Kong were from the mainland. The reasons for a mainlander having a Hong Kong baby are better passports, HK citizenship and the ability to live a more civilized existence.

Today, not two days before the 90th anniversary of the communist party in China, war criminals the world over can rejoice at the loving and nurturing nature of China. What a glorious day for mankind when a documented war criminal can arrive in a foreign country to a king’s welcome, resplendent with the same pomp and circumstance reserved for all foreign dignitaries visiting this hunk of earth. Oh but words cannot express how deeply I believe that this shows the true spirit of Chinese morals and their stance on anything related to the rights of humanity. What a kind and accepting country to put aside those petty allegations of genocide and warmly allowing this man to come and break bread with China’s top brass…

China’s number two, Wen Jiabao supposedly told the Brits to respect his authoritayyyyy, I mean to ‘respect China’s path to democracy’. Path to democracy? My take
1- Isn’t this the same notion that many who are now behind bars had said? Isn’t the famed proposal penned by so many nothing less than a framework for China and democracy? If so , then why do these people get thrown in the cooler and yet the nations number two admits that they may be on the path to democracy
2-I think what China’s number 2 meant to say was “Yeah someday we may be democratic, but cut us some slack, did you know how much our family members are making vz the party in China? But in reality there is too much money on the table to abandon the party now. Why I know a communist fella in Shanghai whose kid made a couple of hundred million on a shady land deal…oppps. I mean please allow us the honor of choosing the timing of our run for democracy. It will probably be when all of the land has been absconded and/or so polluted its rendered unlivable by advanced life forms.

China has a big tobacco problem with over 50% of all adult males smoking. The problem is that the communist party/government owns tobacco and there is too much money to be made in its cultivation and sale. For instance, the industry generated U$93 billion in rev and from this they also garnered U$77 billion in taxes, so why should they stop? As a percentage of tax revenue, this amount accounts for 7% of the total.

There have been several reports as to the amount of China’s debt and bad debt. The typical response is that this debt will hamper their ability to fight inflation. A research firm called Dragonomics has said that the total amount of government debt in China would be 82% of GDP in 2010 or about ten percent less than the USA.

Chongqing China, home to the best hotpot in this whole country, is going to have a ‘cloud district or ‘cloud computing special management district’. The idea is to develop this cloud computing zone and get market share while not falling too far behind others in such endeavors. This will be the first for China and will supposedly be beyond the purview of the ‘great firewall of china’ . Sound too good to be true, it probably is or its access will be relegated to those governmental officials who have been deemed worthy of having unfettered access to the potentially daming information that the net can have.

Warren Buffet will supposedly pull the plug on China’s BYD if they continue to lose money. He bought in at a dollar a share and then in October the stock hit nearly eleven bucks. Lately, however, the company qualifies for ‘suckdum’ and is doing little in the way of profits and progress. Over the past two years BYD has done a stellar U$6.5 million in sales, cough cough, and the net profit for the motor vehicle department has dropped 50%. Looks like BYD will be just another crappy Chinese stock….

This is from the chinadaily and explains China in a nutshell..
from here
“A 41-year-old man surnamed Chen knocked at the door of a women’s organization to ask for help to deal with his wife and her penny-pinching habits, the Wuhan Evening News reported.
Chen said he and his wife were immigrant workers in Sizhou, Central China’sHubeiprovince, and now, after years of hard work, he was a middle–level manager at a factory, with a monthly income of 4,000 yuan ($617), the report cited.
However, Chen said his wife controlled the couple’s income, collecting all the money he earned and only supplying him with an allowance of 10 yuan ($1.5) every three days.
In addition, Chen complained that his wife often turned off the water when he was in the shower to save water and cursed him for using too much shampoo, the report said.
The report said Chen begged the organization to provide mediation to help solve the family’s problem.”
