Tobacco in China- China Fact

China has a big tobacco problem with over 50% of all adult males smoking. The problem is that the communist party/government owns tobacco and there is too much money to be made in its cultivation and sale. For instance, the industry generated U$93 billion in rev and from this they also garnered U$77 billion in taxes, so why should they stop? As a percentage of tax revenue, this amount accounts for 7% of the total.
