Rights Lawyers in China, Few and Far Between

China has about 204,000 lawyers but only a few hundred of them will take on H rights cases. One of the problems is that each year an ‘annual assessment’ is given to lawyers and many of them who take on rights cases often fail- allegedly. The impact is that few are willing to support those who have supposedly suffer and they remain unrepresented by qualified attorneys.
