Can The Chinese Handle Change?
Posted by w_thames_the_d on July 17, 2011
Even the Chinese do not trust themselves to democratize. Ask your typical Chinese friend and they will say that in their hearts they
feel democracy is better, but they know China. So then ask them if China is ready to be a democracy and they will probably say no.
For they have seen what they are capable of and it scares them.
Here is what the Dali Lama had to say…
“If China overnight adopted a democratic system, I might have some reservations.. .
If central authority collapsed, there could be a chaotic situation, and that’s in no one’s interest.”

China and Addictions
Posted by w_thames_the_d on July 17, 2011
The passage below was written many a moon ago and addresses one of the biggest problems in China-vices. Chinese were hooked on opium till Mao came in and put them all through a cultural detox, but they still maintained their need to medicate. As this passage shows, they have always been up for a little gambling as well.
From
A Bit of Old China (Charles Warren Stoddard)
These haunts are seldom visited by the officers of justice, for it is almost impossible to storm the barriers in season to catch the criminals in the very act. Today you approach a gambling-hell by this door, tomorrow the inner passages of the house are mysteriously changed, and it is impossible to track them without being frequently misled; meanwhile the alarm is sounded throughout the building, and very speedily every trace of guilt has disappeared. The lottery is another popular temptation in the quarter. Most of the very numerous wash-houses are said to be private agencies for the sale of lottery tickets. Put your money, no matter how little it is, on certain of the characters that cover a small sheet of paper, and your fate is soon decided; for there is a drawing twice a day.”

China Holding US Debt- OOOPsss
Posted by w_thames_the_d on July 17, 2011
china‑debt‑cartoon.jpg
China was buying a ton of American debt and were sitting in the catbird seat, or so they thought. Funny thing is that now the US is messing around with our debt ceiling and we may have our credit rating lowered. If this happens it will suck for us, but also China who will actually stand to lose a ton of value of their dollar holdings due to the potential delta in exchange rate, and ensuing fall.

China’s Historical Hatred of Women
Posted by w_thames_the_d on July 17, 2011
China has a historical lack of use for women. Much of it comes from China being a patrolinial society and thus a woman cannot carry forth the family name. As a matter of fact, in the 16 and 17 century, a list of etiquette was popular and articulated things one should not do. In this list were things like one should not spit in public, urinate pointing north, and kill baby girls. ….Yeah, that is how much they thought of the girls, this was not even a law but suggestions that one not kill a girl….

80% of All Alleged Imports in China are Chinese Made- Deceitful Chinese Companies
Posted by w_thames_the_d on July 17, 2011
Chinese stretch the truth so much that when living in China, the difference between what is true and not is often hard to understand. For instance, air is supposed to be something that transports oxygen to living organisms and nourishes them, but in China this can often be difficult due to the soot, grit and poisons. This is lesson one in china.
But China’s ability to obfuscate the facts does not end with the natural, sure they can call melamine – a poison, a protein and feed it to kids, but we all know its no good. They also make things like fake buns, meds and a host of almost everything ‘edible’, thus rendering it not so.
As for your humble author, he has taken to assuming that they are full of shit and figure that 80% of what I see is some type of illusion or fabrication and 99.99% of what I hear, mostly useless. For instance, the other day I asked for some ‘foreign meds’ and then much to the consternation of the locals I then asked if it was real or fake. They assured me that they only deal in ‘real products’. so I laughed , gave her the 20 RMB and left.
Then I heard about a Chinese company called Davinci who supposedly made furniture in Italy and then exported it into China. The truth, supposedly is that they really produce the garbage in Dongguan- hooker central- for about U$4000 and then sell it as Italian made for U$240,000.
To most Chinese this should come as no surprise as they know how crappy the typical Chinaman can be to deal with. The longer you live here, the more you see and the more you see the more you shake your head in wonderment.
Then I came across this from wantchinatimes.com. They allege that 80% of all Chinese companies who allege that their products are imports actually made in China and thus they are being deceitful, what a shock….
quote from wantchinatimes.com
“Over 80 percent of imported furniture in China has been discovered to be counterfeit. (File Photo/CFP)
A recent scandal involving DaVinci Furniture, a retailer of “high-fashion furniture brands” which falsely labeled its products as being made and imported from Italy, has exposed the fact that up to 80 percent of foreign furniture imports on the Chinese market are fake, according to a China Business Journal report.”

Sad Map of How The USA Sees The World
Posted by w_thames_the_d on July 17, 2011
This map shows how America see the world, as a collection of interests. This is why we hang on to China, accept their money and buy their goods.

Fire at Northeastern China Oil Plant- A Bakers Dozen of Catastrophes For China?
Posted by w_thames_the_d on July 17, 2011
China has had their fare share of man made catastrophes lately. I am not talking about the cancerous
milk and steamed buns, but the oil disasters. Some things do not go together, like Coke and a
Snickers bar and China and precision tooling and care. Thus, when we hear of the Chinese
doing more drilling for oil we have to expect this sort of thing. Shitty Chinese know how
coupled with shitty chinese products lead to disaster.

China’s Convoluted View of Her History
Posted by w_thames_the_d on July 17, 2011
communist, …from luckykiwi.wordpress.com
China has a funny way of seeing her history. As the cartoon above shows, they are quick to manipulate any negative image into a positive one. They say that no they no longer kill people, but what to they do. In the excerpt below, they also address how the communist party manipulates how people see the past.
From The Party-
At a press conference in August 2009, Wang Yang, the Guangdong party secretary and Politburo member, chastised reporters who asked him about free speech in China, replying: ‘During the Cultural Revolution, there was freedom of speech and that was what drove the whole nation into chaos.’
