Photo of Chinese Moving

Posted by w_thames_the_d on July 27, 2011

I think these people are moving but in retrospect am unsure. I took the pic for a reason that now escapes me but the symmetry of the clutter, the brown mao suit an the grunge strikes me as very China, so I’m posting it.

This Picture From China Says it All-America, There’s Only One

Posted by w_thames_the_d on July 27, 2011

I could not have said it better myself. I saw this jeep traveling by SOHO and the wheel cover has an image of ‘old glory’ and says “There is only one”!

How pimp is it to rock something like that in China today.

Protests in China’s Inner Mongolia

Posted by w_thames_the_d on July 27, 2011

China has 56 minorities or ‘losers’ as they are known here. The only true race for the ‘motherland’ are the Han. he Han people make up 92% of this place so the minorities here are very very minor. Maybe this is why that during the Olympics when China staged a parade in honor of their minorities that most of the little brats on parade were not actually the minority they represent. But this may be purely folly as uncle chicom repeatedly states that China is a harmonious place where all leave in equal grandeur and love.
In unrelated news, a guy from Inner Mongolia, which happens to lie in China, alleges that a Han Chinese businessman was allowed to take “a large piece of their grazing land for cultivation”- said a Mongolian HR gts group. The contention was that as the man was a Han, he was allowed to steal the land from the poor herder. He further alleges that the Han Chinese guy ” hired more than 200 Chinese to kill dozens of livestock with their heavy vehicles and bulldozers and to beat up local Mongolian herders who resisted the occupation of their land”, Eventually police were called to the scene to lay down the law, as it were….
Hmmmm
Sounds like China is pursing their peaceful rise with vigor.Inner Mongolia now has about 20% ethnics and tons of Han, the modus operandi of the c-coms. they farm out the thugs to regions they feel may be a bit shaky, ie. tbet and the far west, inner mongolia, all to calm down the savages. The minorities in IM say their land has been taken from them and they’ve been marginalized by the Han and have no h rgt, but then again this is China.

Chinese Woman Before and After Plastic Surgery

Posted by w_thames_the_d on July 27, 2011

Photo comes from this site. Tons more Chinese are doing plastic surgery now. Typically they like to build up their noses, cut some of the roundness from their faces, and make double eyes or eyelids. This woman is a good example of the results.

Text From Big Brother- How To Report on the Train Wreck in China

Posted by w_thames_the_d on July 27, 2011

This post is interesting as it alleges to show text messages sent to lawyers in China on how they must respond to the tragic train wreck. Isn’t it nice to know that the government takes time to look up from a bottle of mao tai to plink out an inebriated missive of this nature…photo and translation.from chinasmack.com

Here is the text in Chinese
“温州动车事故从现在起以“大灾面前有大爱”为主题报道,不质疑,不展开,不联想,个人微博也不要转发!节目中可提供相应服务信息,音乐注意氛围!”
Translation (from chinasmack.com)
“The Wenzhou train accident from now on will be reported with “great love in the face of great disaster” as the main theme. Don’t question, don’t expand, don’t associate, and don’t repost [about the matter] on individual/personal microblogs! Appropriate service [charity/volunteer] information may be provided during television programs, but be careful of the atmosphere created by music selection!”

Funny Chinese News- Or Not So Funny

Posted by w_thames_the_d on July 27, 2011

1-China is pissed that although Kung Fu is from China and Pandas are as well, the movie Kung Fu Panda is not. So they are sinking tons of cash into creating their next flop, their version of Pixar. But not wanting to fall too far behind in their indigenous movie and cartoon forays, they developed a most excellent cartoon called “Train Hero”- what shitty timing for them right?
Anyway, according to the news the show train hero is , surprisingly enough, a knock off of an older Japanese ‘toon. Shameless in China eh?
2-Chins is still going to spend over $130BN on more high speed failures, I mean trains. After all, construction projects are the biggest source of bribes in China so why should a few corpses slow them down.
3-People in Chengdu China cannot drink water for it’s polluted. But what the heck, the family of the guy or company who owns the local manganese plant probably is safely overseas.

Yummy Meat China Style- Chinese Hygiene

Posted by w_thames_the_d on July 27, 2011

Yummy Chinese meat is seen here being dumped onto the streets and then loaded into a Chinese ‘Sanitary High Intensity Transport’ or SHIT vehicle.
Hmm just imagine that yesterday a mad mass of Chinese as well as civilized folks sat down to consume some of this ultra-sanitary food stuff.

For those of you who’ve not been to China. The guy on the truck is dumping piles of meat onto the street and for the guy on the trike who is probably a reseller. The dude in the red shirt picks the meat up from the street while ensuring it has as many twigs and rocks as possible, thus upping its weight. He then peddles it to the end user or maybe some restaurants and then we all eat it, pebbles, twigs cigarette butts and all.
After seeing photos like this one has to think that toxic milk is nothing more than icing on the cake,

Beijing Pollution Pictures- Comparing Days

Posted by w_thames_the_d on July 27, 2011

These photos show the effect of pollution in Chinese air and Beijing in particular. At any one time when it seems the air is particularly suffocating I try to take a pic. Likewise, if its particularly clean I do the same. unfortunately, the latter occurs less frequently than the former.
A funny thing is that the smoggy pic called July smog, was taken last week. On that particular day the pollution was so bad that it had a chemical feel to it. As my friend put it, the air smelled like an ‘acetylene torch’. Needless to say, I don’t leave my crumbling heap of concrete called a home without a mask now.
(compilation of pollution pics here– search under appropriate heading)

The really sad thing is that today I thought the weather was fine but according to this site, the air is unhealthy for sensitive groups. How messed up is it that after my time here I now do not have the ability to discern a blue sky from a toxic gray one?
