In China over 700 million people consume drinking water which has both human and animal waste that exceeds permissible levels- wtf? Yeah, this means that slugging down a glass of Chinese water is like stuffing your head into a hutong toilet and taking a big gulp.
This is the beauty of the rise of China…

Well, the colonial US was famous for her high alcohol intake in her day because, liquor or beer, was considered purer and safer than drinking water, which was often dirty or polluted. Most of the Founding Fathers were guesstimated to have been drunk while signing the Declaration of Independence.

Might make sense for Chinese bankers to load up while doing “business” – just rubber stamp the loan to connected enterprises with warm, inebriated back slaps and hugs. The same thing worked among Japanese businessmen… for a while.

But we have technologly today to help purify water, such as sewers. and clean reserviors. That’s why we pay for something “free” to unpoo the water. Which the Chinese love to repoo especially in swimming pools.
