China Sterilizes Herself into Submission

Posted by w_thames_the_d on September 7, 2011

Here is China’s way of enforcing the one-child policy
“”Times online reports that China intends to sterilize nearly 10,000 parents in Puning County who have violated the one-child rule. Puning County, with a population of 2.2 million, is the most populated county in the country. Jane Macartney of The Times claims that the sterilization campaign was launched on April 7 and is expected to last 20 days.”

Puny Arms, Flat Chests and Dandruff- Beijing Subways

Posted by w_thames_the_d on September 7, 2011

Today the subway was more packed than usual. For those of you who’ve never been thrust into the human blender of misery and immorality called Chinese subways let me paint you a picture. Imagine all of your family both immediate and extended deciding not to bathe nor brush their teeth and hair for a fortnight. Then imagine them working 60 hour weeks without a change of clothing and jogging in place for a spell. Then imagine them all cramming themselves into the confines the size of the maw of a hippo- now you can understand what it means to stand in line waiting for the subway. Take all of the above times a factor of seven, and that is what I endure each and every day.
today’s observations

Ancient Chinese stumbling into cars the likes of which they’d heretofore not seen. Little Chinese men no bigger than a plunger shoving past pregnant women and those weaker, puffer fish faced Chinese fatties with their mouths filled with bin guan, sour faced chinese ‘ladies’ with every gram of skin tugged into the front in what they hope approximates a chest, primping chinese professionals using the doors as a mirror and a field of skulls littered with dandruff. Taller than most I tower above and like a spectator in something out of planet of the apes I marvel at how they push, shove , screech and cajole just to inch closer to the door. Older peasant women with elephantine flesh sagging over their joints smile at me and shove their social security ie. baby my way trying to get him to smile.
I leave the subway and think… damn I am glad I was born ABC- anywhere but China….

Good Summary of the Reality of Housing in China

Posted by w_thames_the_d on September 7, 2011

Here is a comment from Brewskie summarizing what houses in China are like:
“So, $250K lands ya in stacked cardboard boxes with a nice paint job, $500K stuffed sardines into stacked milk crates, and $1 million gets you a real condo building with crappy dry wall used in new US homes last decade – correct?”

Chinese Customer Service Sucks- Huawei Leading the Pack in Suckdom

Posted by w_thames_the_d on September 7, 2011

Chinese customer service goes something like this, “you want what?” then they slop it down in front of you and leave. I guess it’s better than it used to be when you had to line up for days to get your one egg for your birthday but not much. The following is an excerpt explaining how shitty China’s Huawei is in terms of customer service
from here:
“According to the U.S. diplomats that authored the cable “… [Joseph] used a monosyllabic expletive beginning with ‘S’ to describe after-sales service.”
“When there are [sic] equipment problems later, [Joseph] said, the Chinese run for the door.”
The cable reported that Safaricom purchased equipment from Huawei in 2006, and that Joseph now viewed that deal as “too good to be true.”
The cable said Huawei “effectively reneged and only delivered half the equipment promised in the contract.”
Joseph is said to have gone to China in person and eventually met Huawei’s CEO to force a cancellation of the contract.”

Justice with Chinese Characteristics= Horror

Posted by w_thames_the_d on September 7, 2011

Read the following. Eight Chinese women were beaten and paraded arouind the streets while being mocked adn called theives, only to have the cops find out they had the wrong people….these were innocents…

from here
“On a recent weekend, eight female migrant workers gathered to visit a wholesale market selling cheap apparel in Panyu district, a popular attraction in the city. As they prepared to leave the market, the eight women were suddenly stopped by 20 heavily-built security guards. Without warning, the guards punched, kicked and knocked them to the ground, telling them only: “You are thieves.”
After beating the women, the guards then put handcuffs on them. As they did not have enough handcuffs, they then used rope to tie the remaining women’s hands together. The women were then paraded around the market, with the leader of the guards shouting, “This is the treatment all thieves will be given.”
As the women were marched around, some onlookers joined with the guards to beat them. To prevent their captives from protesting, their mouths were stuffed with newspaper.
More than an hour after the women were paraded in shame, the guards took them to a nearby police station. It was late into the night when the women were finally told they were not guilty and had been seized by mistake.”

Oh Snap! US Dings China over African Presence

Posted by w_thames_the_d on September 7, 2011

Interesting news from here where the US dogs China in their position and goals in Africa.

from here:
Johnnie Carson, US Assistant Secretary for African Affairs, who had been meeting oil company representatives in Lagos.
He describes China as “a very aggressive and pernicious economic competitor with no morals”.

Chinese Bike to Their Weddings

Posted by w_thames_the_d on September 7, 2011

Great story here about a poor Chinese couple who bike to their own weddings….
from here:
“From Changqing Road to Yinsha North Street in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, it is only a 30-minute bike ride without traffic jam.. But for the 29-year-old Huang and 26-year-old Zhao, it’s the most special rout of their lives. Huang rode the bikes with 18 of his friends to pick up his bride Miss Zhao on August 11.”
