China’s Counterfeit Chips are a National Security Threat- Homeland Security

Posted by w_thames_the_d on September 16, 2011

Here is an excerpt from this report that is an eye opener and scary.
“The importation of counterfeit semiconductor “chips” is a growing national security threat. For years, manufacturers abroad (primarily in China) have used crude techniques, including open fires, surface sanding, and acid washes, to turn “e‐waste” into counterfeit semiconductors. These chips – already weakened from their original state and at great risk of failure – are then re‐labeled using digital printing and laser etching and packaged for sale to international brokers. However, counterfeiters have begun acquiring more sophisticated equipment and advanced counterfeiting techniques, making it increasingly difficult to identify counterfeit semiconductors. As a result, more and more counterfeit chips make it through our borders and into a wide range of products, including automobile technology such as brake systems, health care technology such as defibrillators, and, most troublingly, into military equipment such as missiles, navigation systems, and jets. Given their high failure risk, counterfeit infiltration places our citizens and military personnel in unreasonable peril.”

World’s Irrational Double Standard With China and Banks

Posted by w_thames_the_d on September 16, 2011

Here is an interesting article on China and how we perceive them. The bottom line is that there seems to be a double standard when talking about China and her control of banking and that in the US. The author’s hypothesis is that in the States we disdain to have officials running banks as we don’t trust them, but in China we do. To the current author this is odd for the communists have proven themselves, if nothing else, to be very adept at pilfering.
Here is an excerpt and the link follows below:
“Investors have a healthy distrust, and rightly so, of governments running banks in the US and UK, but for a very strange reason are comfortable with the Chinese government wheeling and dealing with Chinese banks. Governments, and thus their bureaucrats and politicians, are not fit to make business decisions, not because they lack a certain level of intelligence (though some will argue that is the case), but because they have the wrong incentives. In democratic countries, politicians’ and bureaucrats’ incentives are to be reelected and thus keep their jobs, and so their time horizon doesn’t exceed their time in office a few years, or sometimes only months. Capital-allocation decisions (i.e., making loans) have a much longer time horizon, often decades. Also, the government is in the business of making populist (popular) decisions that may or may not be the right economic decisions.
Of course, China is not a democracy and the Chinese government is not really worried about reelections, though it is gravely concerned with maintaining its power. Hence you get a policy of growth at any cost. (Read article in the Economist on how Chinese car sales and gasoline sales don’t reconcile.)
If investors don’t feel comfortable owning banks in developed, democratic nations such as the US and UK, where government is a minority holder, their degree of comfort with Chinese banks that are controlled by the Chinese government and have an agenda to grow their economy at any cost should be exponentially lower!”

from here:
“If you want blue skies in your Beijing holiday snaps, invest in Photoshop. If you want to blow your nose in the city and not turn your hankies black, wear a mask. And if you want clean air, take an oxygen tank.

China Criticizes USA on September 11 and Its Impact

Posted by w_thames_the_d on September 16, 2011

China, according to polls, was not unhappy to see the twin towers fall on September 11, 2001 and the other day the communist party took a shot at the land of milk and hopefully not toxic chinese honey.
Story excerpt here:
“While the 10th anniversary of 9/11 was a solemn occasion in the United States, and a chance to remember America’s values of freedom and democracy, for Chinese state media it was a chance to go on the offensive.

On Sept. 11, the Communist Party mouthpiece Xinhua published on its website an article criticizing the United States for “misusing” 9/11. ..”

Who Needs Oil? China Buying US Oil Fields

Posted by w_thames_the_d on September 16, 2011

Oil is just a commodity so why do we really worry about who purchases it and what they do with it? As we can see from the excerpt below, we do not. China is buying land with oil resources right from the good ‘ol usa. So what is the problem? Haven’t the Chinese proven themselves to be conscientious especially when it comes to the environment and safety? Maybe they are just returning the favor and plan to pollute as much of America as they can just to get even….
from here
HOUSTON – State-owned Chinese energy giant CNOOC is buying a multibillion-dollar stake in 600,000 acres of South Texas oil and gas fields, potentially testing the political waters for further expansion into U.S. energy reserves.

and here is the Chinese take on it
The Chinese have to be laughing their asses off at us. We are the typical ignorant foreigners who trust- kinda like the American indians. Like so many lemmings who flock to Beijing only to be taken by the frauds selling traditional Chinese meds or mela milk but in our ignorance we are sure that this china man is a good guy, after all, why would he screw us.
china has a history of mucking up the countries she visits and if we are too foolish to realize it then we deserve our future misery.

China’s Financial Woes

Posted by w_thames_the_d on September 16, 2011

Interesting post from this website. The author is addressing China’s future financial woes.
From here

BLN China is a top down communist rule country that is walking a tight rope with a private enterprise fueled growth. The top communist leadership love the growth but hate the way it was achieved. The country is nearing the end of the cheap labor curve that produced the 8+ growth rate for the last 22 years with the Chinese people demanding much more pay. It’s important to remember that communist centralized planing has failed everywhere it is tried and will fail in China too.
Watch for the wheels to come off the China miracle over the next 7 to 10 years resulting in a riot inducing clamp down of freedom.

Obama’s Tax Bill a Scam? From Loadingdata.nl

Posted by w_thames_the_d on September 16, 2011

Here is an intriguing post from http://www.loadingdata.nl
The author is opining about Obama-mama-baby’s tax bill

here is an excerpt:

OBAMA‘S JOB CREATION SCAM

I have already posted this on Google+, where I’m mostly active these days, but thought it deserved a separate blog post: Obama’s job creation scam.

President Barack Obama plans to send the text of his $447 billion job-growth package to Congress tonight and urge quick action on the legislation, according to an administration official……

A simple calculation: The labor force of the United States is about 150 million strong. According to the article, the unemployment rate is about 9% (the actual amount is of course much higher, but that’s a different story altogether…)
So “officially” there are about 14 million people unemployed. If all these people are provided with a job, each one of them will be responsible for 447 billion / 14 million = $32,000 of costs…” .read his conclusion here
