“killer Chinese Railways’ and the Swiss

Posted by w_thames_the_d on October 1, 2011

Poetic comment from the Brew…
“The Swiss Federal Railways has gone without a major crash since 1902. Why can’t China do the same for a few years?”

530 Million Chinese To Travel Over the Next Week?

Posted by w_thames_the_d on October 1, 2011

According to wantchinatimes 530 million people will travel this week- its China’s birthday. To me the number sounds a bit large but maybe its just a testament to how many rural migrant workers they have. For instance, none of my professional colleagues will be traveling, but then again that is a very small sample size.
The question becomes if we can trust Chinese statistics. It would behoove them to lie for then when they have another subway or train crash killing hundreds, they can claim that a billion people traveled and so whats the passing of a few hundred. The reality however, is that many Chinese do travel over the holidays making their unbearable lines and presence even moreso.
Perhaps the moral to this story is that if you come to China expect long lines, people spitting and feces on the sidewalks…..

Is it Just Me? —- Chinese Dirtying Up Space

Posted by w_thames_the_d on October 1, 2011

Is it just me or does a space capsule filled with Chinese bring to mind images of clipped toenails floating with weightless abandon as they vie for space with hunks of dander, dandruff, human waste, all the while Chinese commi-nauts snooze or take time off to watch pirated DVD’s on pirated DVD players?

China Buying Back Her Toxic Stocks

Posted by w_thames_the_d on October 1, 2011

China sold us a bill of goods vz shit stocks. After the justice department investigation and knowledge of the malfeasance of Chinese companies the stocks dropped. Now the chinese are buying the low priced stocks back, shown here
“Four Chinese companies listed on US stock markets have bought back US$190 million of their own stock since September as bourses plunge, according to China Securities Journal in Beijing.
The latest company is Giant Interactive Group, which announced Sept. 26 that it would repurchase US$50 million of its outstanding shares, the journal said.
Boosted by the news, its stock opened at US$3.69 that day and closed 5.13% higher.”

Here is another view of what is happening,
“I posted here that China is selling stocks to the USA or listing her companies here. The problem is that those stocks are plagued with corruption and malfeasance. Now this site reports that those same Chinese companies are buying back their stock now that the citizens of the US have gotten wind of their dubious deeds.
The reasons that the Chinese may wish to do this are many. For instance, they may wish to prop up the prices of their failing stocks, or it could be something else. Think of it like this- the Chinese sell stocks to the USA and get option strike prices for next to nothing. They watch as the stock climbs and sell out making big money. Then after the stocks tank they buy back again thus waiting for the next stock increase at which time they can sell again. When this happens they sell making more money.

Happy Birthday Communists

Posted by w_thames_the_d on October 1, 2011

Today the reds are 62 years old and still going. Far be it from the death of tens of millions to dampen the spirits of the communists. Sure they exterminated millions in the early 50’s during the Mao’ist anti-land owner purges. Then they kinda killed a bunch of smart people who wanted to let the flowers of thought bloom but that was a long time ago.
Aside from those little hiccups China and the communists have been little less than a bright spot.Opps well there was that problem with the famine that wiped out 30-50 million, a man-made famine as it were. And after that was the little revolution where teenagers humiliated their parents, but that was a time that Chinese leaders cut their teeth and Xi Jinping aka the caveman rose to prominence within the party, but that too was a long time ago. In June of the year before 90 Deng Xiao Ping made certain that China would never be a fair and just place, but then again he was seen as the man who opened this place up.
Or maybe I am being too harsh. maybe the fact that the communists in China have brought untold riches to the poor- those same people they stole from and starved, but now things are better.
Happy birthday communist China.
