Sorry to be pedantic… It’s 163 boys for every 100 girls. That’s an average, of course. And might not even be correct, because the census is always a bit of a guessing game at the best of times in a cuntry where you are not allowed to admit to having too many children. And it’s not always well organised, either: One of my friends filled out the census three times at his home. I told the census takers to fuck off twice and ignored them the next couple of times when they knocked at the door.
I take it all with a grain of salt, although it is almost certainly correct that a lot of Chinese boys will never meet a girl outside of a whack shack.
