China has two Nobel Prize winners, that is the good news. Unfortunately, neither of these two men are able to freely walk around China, that is the bad news.
One of China’s Noble winners is the Dali Lama, who has been living in exile for decades. The other, Liu Xiaobo, is in jail for subversion. If china’s jailing of Nobel prize winners is not proof positive of its ill will and lack of concern for human rights and civility, then what is?
The truth is that China has become more oppressive over time. The party has tightened up the reigns on the masses, allowing fewer and fewer liberties. In October, china will announce that Xi jinping will be the new son of sam, and lead this country. What the communists know, however, is that their legitimacy is waning. Gone are the days of struggle sessions against democracy and the love of Mao. These have been replaced by rampant corruption and abuse. China will not democratize without a fight. This is what the chinese are gearing up for.
