Irony Alert-SEC Scrutinizes African Metal Purchases – But What of China

Posted by w_thames_the_d on August 23, 2012

The following excerpt shows just how fouled up the US is. From this site, “Apple Inc. (AAPL), Boeing Co. (BA) and thousands of other U.S.-listed manufacturers must scrutinize their purchases of four metals to make sure they don’t help fund human-rights abuses in Africa, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission rule adopted yesterday”

Hmm, let me see if I am ‘picking up what they are puttin’ down’. US companies cannot purchase metal from Africa, or some African countries because there is a concern that these countries abuse human rights. And if these countries abuse human rights, then by proxy US companies are enabling said abuse. And if US companies buy from such ‘scandalous African firms’ then US companies are in the wrong. In purchasing from these African companies, the US is funding brutal regimes which do not respect human rights. Is this correct?

Is it just me or does this not seem to be the most hypocritical rash of horse dung ever imagined. These companies must justify where they bought steel in order to ensure that they are not funding the killing and torturing of innocents, but all the while these same US firms increase their global footprint by investing in the big stinky-China. And in by so doing, they are enabling the communist dictators who in 1989 ensured that China’s communists will not now, nor ever democratize. And furthermore, by commingling their global footrprint with that of China, these American stalwarts are further ensuring that the US cannot or will not take action against China for it would harm US business interests abroad…

No wonder the world thinks we are a bunch of freaking two-faced hypocrites
