Understanding China, One Blog at a Time

An American in China

Chinese Cannot Handle Being Respected

Posted by w_thames_the_d on September 5, 2013

When you go to china you will be lied to, cheated and ignored, its what the locals call ‘being Chinese’. This feeling is so deeply entrenched in their pshyce/dna that the locals expect it.

The problem is that when real humans deviate from that script and treat Chinese like people, the Chinese misinterpret what that means. To them, kindness is weakness and by being nice to them, we are lowering ourselves. In turn, when treated this way, the pinbrained locals suffer from ego inflation and the sense that they too are like us.

Of course nothing could be farther from the truth, after all, how many of our forefathers slaughtered and ate tens of millions of their kin? But I digress…

What happens to the typical Chinese when we treat them with respe t is that they do not respect us in turn. Chinese masochism being what it is, they need to be treated as badly as they treat each other or with disdain at best. Notice the difference in how they act after you have given them an emotional ass whopping and you will understand.

My new day’s resolution is to treat Chinese just as they treat each other.

No one can hate the Chinese as much as they hate each other.
