Understanding China, One Blog at a Time

An American in China

Computer Data Theft and Varmints

Posted by w_thames_the_d on October 1, 2013

Here us a quote that could be used to describe Chinese hackers who must steal to support the ‘ motherland’ because communism does nothing but promote treachery, abuse and theft, thus crowding out usefulness or self awareness of any kind within its people.

In addition, the book is hilarious and anyone who enjoys great lit should love it and people in IT should find it quite comical too. It is called CUCKOO’S EGG by Clifford Stoll and is about a programmer who sets out to find who was hacking into the system of his employer. It is informative and hilarious. Even though it was written in the 90s its is still spot on.

“Netherlands, there’s the term “computervredebreuk”—literally, computer peace disturbance. Me? The idea of a vandal breaking into my computer makes me think of words like “varmint,” “reprobate,” and “swine.”
