Chinese Apartments Collapsing, Chinese Construction, a Weapon of Mass Destruction

How typical is this? Chinese buildings are crumbling like their morals…

A residential building in east China’s Zhejiang province and a residential construction site in central China’s Hunan province have collapsed, reports China’s official Xinhua News Agency.

Around 15 apartments in a five-storey building in Zhejiang’s Fenghua city collapsed at around 9:00am on Friday. Residents of the brick building had just asked a local television station to report on their situation after a safety inspection deemed the building “dangerous” but no evacuation was ordered.

The residents had complained about a number of issues over the past two years, including structural instabilities and crumbling walls. Seven residents were pulled out from the rubbles after the collapse. A female resident among them later died in hospital.
