Chinese Pollution- Years of Photos Comparing Daily Pollution in China
Here is proof of how badly China is ruining our environment. The photos are taken at the same time of day and show the dramatic difference in a ‘sunny day’ and typical day in China. You can figure out the date of the photo by looking at the name, using ‘010620102836’ as an example. 01- is the day 06- is the month and -2010 is the date, the rest must be a time stamp

I will be filling in the gaps as I have been taking these pics non stop for over two years now
I wil just dump all my pollution pics here ( I should have over 700 or so)
Here is an example of a typical day in China where the ppm pollution is over 400 or deadly, and a day in which the pollution is only mildly cancerous

New from here. The story below speaks to the fact that China uses coal as a primary fuel source and it is one of the most filthy forms of power generation. The result is horrible levels of pollution that have left Beijing skies polluted an yours truly horribly ill. As I now am clearing the hump and getting better, I have resigned myself to wearing a mask both in and out of doors as well as to bed. The pollution has gotten so bad that it creeps into the offices giving them a hazy glow…

By Wednesday morning, the US Embassy’s online air pollution monitor classed the level of particulate matter as “very unhealthy” as concentrations had reached many times the level above which bad health effects start to be seen.
After several more days with bad smog, the pollution index remained at “very unhealthy” yesterday evening.
Air pollution can aggravate conditions such as asthma, cause short-term illnesses such as bronchitis, and has been linked to lung cancer and heart disease

Take a look at the ‘sky’, it is nothing more than a gray cloud. This is the effect of China’s rise and continued lack of concern for the environment. Living here I usually get 3 to 4 sinuses infections per year, I am on a 9 day bout of one as we speak. The place is so polluted that walking around feels like you are sucking on a stogie. Its too bad, for when there are blue sky days here, it is magnificent.

Pollution Watch in China- Daily Photos of Beijing Air Pollution for August 2010

| Here are photos of the pollution in Beijing. The shots are taken around the same time of day so they are a good apples-to-apples comparison. I have read that in five years China wants to have 80% blue sky days. If you look at the photos below you will see that achieving such a feat will be a tall order. By my unofficial reckoning and being as liberal as possible, over the past year China has at least 65% gray sky horrible days. I’ve been taking these shots for about a year now and have lost some but will look for them. In any event, These are the pics I have for August. Also, I do not touch up nor alter the photos, they are like my blog, what you see is what you get (I use my nokia to take the shots). The gray in the photos is not fog, but pollution. A few photos may have cloud cover, but if you mouse over or click on them, you can see for yourself.

What the Worst Pollution in the World Looks Like-Beijing’s Pollution “Beyond” Index

| The US embassy had this to say about the pollution in China “The independent assessment by the embassy said pollution was either hazardous or “beyond index,” meaning that air quality had plunged below the worst level on the scale.”Lately I have smelled a mixture of some toxing and metals in the air but could not identify it. Whatever the case, i have taken quite a few photos to show you what it means to have polllution so bad that it is “Beyond measure.”
When you look at the photos, remember that it is not fog that is obscuring the sky but pollution…. this place is crazy excerpt from here: “The Beijing Environmental Bureau said air quality in most of the city was at level five — the worst rating. “Obviously elderly people and children should not go outside,” an official at the bureau who refused to identify herself told AFP.Particulate pollution, rising temperatures and a lack of wind caused the stifling smog, which reduced visibility in parts of the city to just 200 metres (yards), the Beijing weather bureau said in a report.” |
