Carrefour Sues in China

This story is about a Chinese company basically stealing the phonetic name of Carrerour (as pronounced in Chinese) and building up about 160 stores utilizing this name. The law states that it is illegal to ‘potentially confuse’ a customer with a likeness of a logo or brand etc. That is basically the hurdle, that one has to potentially confuse the customer with a ‘stolen’ or logo knock off. In addition, from the sounds of it, these stores are in the rural areas with a lower level of education which means that these poor people may actually think they are at the real Carrefour. So , this Chinese company makes some stores called Jialefu, which means happy family in Chinese, but in reality is how the Chinese pronounce the word Carrefour. This would lead a rational being to believe that the Chinese company is in the wrong here. The problem is that Carrefour is suing in China… My take, Carrefour will probably win, but within a bit it will all go back to status quo. The Chinese are worried about building their infrastructure and growing the economy one provincial leader in an area filled with pirated goods even told the Chiense companies to stop worryi9ng about IPR issues and make money. This is China….

China’s Ten Day Traffic Jam

Well, its not really THAT traffic jam (China has this big f**k off traffic jam to the north of Beijing), but more like what we see each morning as we traipse off to work. Look at the concentration look at the frustration… Look at the sheer boredom of these people… This is commuting in China. Here is a guy making an honest dollar in China. These guy is heaving this stuff up and down the crowded streets of Beijing and probably gets about U$7 per day.

Public Urniation in China- Again

This is what greeted me on Tuesday when I exited a subway. The little girl was taking a pee right in front of the subway entrance. This seems to be a common spot for the Chinese to take their kids to pee as I have seen it happen at least a half dozen times. This is odd as there are several public restrooms near by, but as you can see, the old lady just allowed the kid to pee and waited, then she pulled up her britches and off they went, as if it were as common an event as breathing.

What the Hong Kong’ese Think of the Mainland Chinese

The people in Hong Kong were taken over by the Brits (some say saved by them) for quite a while , but now have been returned to the mainland for over a decade.
