Pissed Off Chinamen at the airport

Posted by w_thames_the_d on August 22, 2010

Here is a scene from an Airport in China, where the Chinese are a little bit upset with delayed flights. The Chinese government is looking to rectify this problem by changing some rules, I have my doubts whether it will be effective.

Chinese Subways, a Rough and Tumble World- Fighting on the Subway

Posted by w_thames_the_d on August 22, 2010

Taking the subway in China is exactly like that scene in the book by Elie Wiesel’s (night) where the Nazi’s threw the bread crubms to the jews just to watch them fight over it. The idea of the book was to show humans at their most base level where mother fights against daughter and father against son all for a small morsel of food. Well, that is notion is basically what Chinese subways are like. It is a view of humanity at is most base and brutal level, all pushing shoving fighting, for a spot on a crowded subway that smells like ass.
Today the ride was like a battle Royale, or a UFC cum toughman contest. As the subway car approached the station, I witnessed the sweetest 50 year old woman, replete with old lady bonnet and tight smile ready to board the train. Suddenly the subway stopped and the doors whooshed open and the battle was on. The lady went nuclear:
a young guy maybe 28 and 126 pounds which technically makes him a Bantamweight pushed ahead of the lady, who is about 50 and goes about 138, making her a super lightweight.
round 1
The guy pushed into her, pissing her off, for which she shot a chopping right to his kidneys, an illegal blow but with no ref around, he could do nothing—-round scored a draw
round 2
the old lady lowered her shoulder into the guy and landed a glancing left to the lower back, also illegal but an effective blow, the guy could not counter—round scored for the old lady
round 3
young guy pushes back into the old lady throwing her off balance, rendering her hands useless—- round scored for the young guy
round 4
old lady doubles up with short rights and lefts to the kidneys, pissing off the young guy who raises his arm, presumalby to balance himself, and then landed a killer elbow smash to the old lady’s nose, drawing a tad bit of blood round scored

China Changes Her History to Suit Her Needs- Credibility Crisis in Chinese Reporting

Posted by w_thames_the_d on August 22, 2010

Today the China daily reported a story about the number of natural disasters occurring in China. Yesterday they said the figure this year was around 26,000 this year, which, according to them yesterday was a four-fold increase over last year. See below, … then below this see my blog post yesterday. I remember posting yesterday and hearing different figure, thus I did a little checkaroo and sure enough, the Chinese had managed to change their history. For, if you look below, you will see that yesterday that same figure of 26,000 natural disasters was actually a ten-fold increase from last year, according to the same newspaper. The thing is that many Chinese became alarmed when they read these stats and started to blame the government and industry for deforestation and raping the land. Thus, the paper was probably ‘coaxed’ to come forth with new information.

Actually I am not surprised, before I did this blog, I thought I had seen them do things like this, but had no real hard evidence, now I found it to be true. My feelings about China are the same, but it merely shows that they have no credibility.

Today’s report from chinadaily

Rescuers search for survivors after mudslides leveled a remote village of Puladi township in Gongshan, Yunnan province, early on Friday. The disaster left at least 12 people dead as well as 80 others missing and 40 injured. [Lin Yiguang / Xinhua] Country hit by tenfold increase; extreme weather ‘partly to blame’

BEIJING – The country recorded more than 26,000 geological disasters in the first seven months of this year, nearly 4 times the number in the same period last year, Minister of Land and Resources Xu Shaoshi said on Friday.

And just yesterday the chinadaily had this to say. Hmmm how does the number of natural disasters change from a ten percent increase to four percent overnight? I guess that is just how the chicoms roll, they change history. Maybe that is why they like to control the internet, so that they cannot be caught manipulating information like this.

China Fact- Wages in China

Posted by w_thames_the_d on August 22, 2010

Many provinces in China will update the minimum wage. Some of them will increase it by as much as 30%. Beijing will increase it to 960 RMB per month from 800 RMB per month. This roughly equates to U$143 per month. But oh yeah, they usually give free food and housing.

China Fact- Minimum Wage in China

Posted by w_thames_the_d on August 22, 2010

China does not have many laws, or they do have laws, just not many of them are obeyed. One such law is the minimum wage law. Supposedly workers in Beijing are to make 800RMB per month (minimum) or about U$119 per month. I believe the mandated hours are 48 but I am unsure, but I know it is less than 50.

Posted by w_thames_the_d on August 22, 2010

China is a relatively poor country and the salaries reflect this. To be middle class in Beijing you need to make 5923 RMB or about U$884 per month. Beijing, which is one of the richest cities in China has quite a few middle class workers.

John Culberson on Chinese Students Stealing US Technology and Aiding Communist China

Posted by w_thames_the_d on August 22, 2010

U.S. Rep. John Culberson,
the Congressman was asked about the problem with foreign-born students obtaining visas after 9/11. He responded:

“A concern that I continue to see is that a lot of those scientists from communist China, my impression is, and correct me if I am wrong, come here and learn as much as they can, and then leave. And I’m not really all that much into helping the communists figure out how to better target their intercontinental ballistic missiles at the United States. They basically steal our technology for military applications. And they are red China, let’s not forget.

Monkey Men in China- China’s Inability to Innovate

Posted by w_thames_the_d on August 22, 2010

There is a sahing- monkey see, monkey do, well, this is alive and well in China. The reason I bring this up is that while vacationing in a Chinese hotspot, I noticed this remarkable phenomenon. Chinese love to copy or mimic. I am not being an ass when I say this, or maybe I am, but let me explain.

While strolling along the beach I noticed about 50 Chinese huddled by the water they dared not enter as it apparently was an unknown to them. There were about 10 packs of 5 of them and their behavior was identical. One old haggard woman with a coolie hat from the 1920’s would venture near the waves, dunk in her largest toe, and race back to the shore screeching, while the rest of them joined in the hilarity. I do not know if the 50 people had choreographed the event or not, but it repeated itself for about 30 minutes, i shit you not.
Then one of my colleagues bent over and began to collect shells, they were looking for only the pretty ones, and no shit, within seven minutes the damned beach was filled with bent over coolies combing the beach for shells- presumably, but then again its China so maybe they thought my friend had come upon a few dollars. In any event, my colleague was somewhat dismayed as the coolies had literally picked this swath of beach clean of shells. They had abandoned all hope of dunking a toe in the ocean and had undertaken this new task with the zest of the red guard.
Having no more shells to pick my friends walked off to the shade. The poor Chinese were now in a quandary as this leader of men the one who had shown the novel idea of picking up shells had left or abandoned them. I watched in amusement, sure that if I’d decided to prostrate myself and begin chanting in tongues, some of the coolies would have followed me. Deciding that oftentimes discretion is the better part of valor, I walked off, leaving them once again to wait for another glorious leader to emerge and offer their mundane existences a glimmer of hope.

Thanks to Project Hope, China now Has “Sichuan Tobacco Primary School”- WTF?

Posted by w_thames_the_d on August 22, 2010

China had this thing called project hope, read excerpt below , and in this, State owned Tobacco Companies were allowed to sponsor schools, and if they sponsored them, they would be allowed to use their names on the school. So China has schools that are named after tobacco products. One such school has the motto
“Ingenuity is the fruit of diligence – tobacco will help you succeed”
The west has been targeting kids for quite some time, so this should be no surprise, but such a brazen approach seems reprehensible. At least in the past, one could say that companies were somewhat ignorant of the effects of tobacco, but to do this today? I sometimes wonder if this is not some whacked form of population control in China. Today cancer is the leading cause of death and under a million people die from pollution alone, add to this millions of cancer deaths and you have a fairly efficient way to reduce your population. What a bizarre place…
excerpt:
cig-teaser.jpg
The World Health Organisation (WHO) estimates that a third of the world’s smokers live in China. Cigarette brands are such an integral part of the establishment that even infant schools carry their names. When Mao Tse-tung came into power in 1949, he promised the Chinese people “food, a roof over your heads, and cigarettes”.

Thanks to the “Project Hope”, a government initiative launched in 1989 in which companies were invited to invest in the country’s poorest schools, the Chinese tobacco industry has been benefiting from free advertising in the most impressionable of institutes.

“Sichuan Tobacco Primary School”, “Liaoning Tobacco Company Primary School” and “Qinghai Tobacco Primary School” are just a few examples. Schools which have benefited from the generosity of tobacco company subsidies also have to adopt the name of the corporation. In the Sichuan school, the tobacco firm involved even put up a plaque carrying the slogan “Tobacco will help you succeed”.Well, if you’re trying to succeed in dying, then it’s no exaggeration – the WHO estimates that a million Chinese people die every year from smoking related illnesses.
